Sunday, February 23rd - what a great couple of weeks but what will we do next week?

It's going to feel strange getting back into the swing of things after a non-stop two weeks of watching nothing but sports. But what a couple of weeks it's been - and I'm not a sports fan! We ended the whole affair the way most of the country did - sitting in front of the TV early in the morning watching  the men's hockey game. A perfect ending to another olympic games. Congratulations to all those athletes who gave it their all, but also a big thank you to the parents, families and friends who so generously give of their time, energy  and money so their kids or their friends kids, can go out there, weekend after weekend, and train to someday realize their dream.  I know that only a tiny percentage of kids will make it to that level, but so much credit goes to those behind the scenes, for those few who do. Well done Canada!

And speaking of weekend athletes, James was at a Speed Skating meet in Newmarket all weekend. And this just in - he finished 4th overall and also got a silver medal for his relay team. Well done James!

It was a pretty great weekend right from the start - from pizza and beer at the VanGaals on Friday evening to a movie, wine and nachos on Saturday night. Then on Sunday we headed out to Souris to check out their cross country ski facilities. We had a great day as it was mild and wind free in the woods.

Unfortunately due to the freezing rain earlier in the week, some of the trails were not available but we got out and had a bit of fresh air and exercise anyway. Besides it was a beautiful day for a drive, if nothing else.  A coffee beside a sunny window at Tim's was a great way to end the day.

The nice weather was not wasted on Cooper either. He spent the better part of the day moving from the front to the back of the yard, where he would find the highest snow bank and then just sit surveying his kingdom!  He does like to bask in the sun on a warm  day.
