I know the calendar says spring, but it sure doesn't feel like it. After a couple of milder days, the temperature dropped significantly yesterday afternoon and this morning it's a very frosty -1'. The sky is clear at the moment but we should have a somewhat rainy 8' later on this afternoon. It's a ways to go yet before we can begin to think about gardening.
In spite of the weather, it was a great weekend. I spent the day working inside on Saturday. We're expecting delivery of a new refrigerator on Thursday this week so I worked on moving the old one out to the porch, temporarily, and cleaning up underneath where it used to sit. Because the weather was drizzly all day it was a good day for getting some inside jobs done.
Fortunately I had also been invited to supper at the Van Gaals - the first lobster of the season! What a treat that first taste of fresh from the sea lobster is. Brenda made potato salad and I made coleslaw. I also brought along a small plate of cookies that I had made earlier in the day. All in all it was a terrific Saturday.
Sunday was more of the same - cool and damp. I spent Sunday morning out in the craft room working on finishing up some projects that needed just a bit of work to be complete, for the conference. I had just finished up and come in the house for a cup of tea when Brenda arrived. Over tea, we calculated numbers for meals for the Rec Centre, as we have a meeting with them this evening.
I spent the rest of the day puttering about before heading over to the VanGaals once again for Mother's Day dinner. The boys were both there and were in charge of cooking. Potatoes roasted on the BBQ, broccoli salad and BBQ pork chops hit he spot quite nicely. Of course we tried to use up some of the leftovers as well, so we also finished off a couple of lobsters left over from the previous evening. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.
Lloyd should be home sometime later today. He's had a fairly successful week. He managed to sell Meghan's car, fixed the mechanical issue with the plane and finally got a chance to fly it. Unlike us, they had beautiful weather all weekend, although it was too windy to fly on Saturday. I'm sure he was thrilled to finally get up in the air in his creation.
Meghan(2) also had a successful weekend. She held a lucrative garage sale that netted her enough money to buy the dance costume carrier that she's wanting. Well done Meg. Unfortunately Lloyd missed the sale as he had sold the wheels he was using. But that was a good thing so it all worked out for everyone!
