Condolences to the Van Gaal Family

Conditions at 6:00 am - light snow and 0*
Expected later - light rain and 4*

Our condolences go out this morning to the Van Gaal family on the passing of Bernie's mom in Grand Falls, New Brunswick. Of course the challenge for Brenda was to get flights changed and attempt to bring Bernie and Caitlyn home from the other side of the world in time for the funeral. But Brenda being Brenda, she plowed through the chaos that is international travel and travel points and was able to make the necessary arrangements. I went over to her house to help but there was really nothing I could do but be there for her and I know she appreciated that.
I've just spoken with her this morning and she's talked with Bernie and everything is going to be fine. They can get to Toronto but from there we're not sure - maybe flying, maybe driving.. But that will work itself out. In the meantime Brenda is getting everything and everyone here ready to make the trip to New Brunswick.

Travel this time of year is tricky for everyone and even more so for those on stand by. I talked with Lloyd yesterday and it wasn't looking too good for getting to Charlottetown but he's come up with another plan. He's going to try to get to Moncton (apparently it's not quite as popular a destination as PEI) and there appear to be some seats available and if he can get there in time, he can catch a bus over to the island. If he doesn't get there in time to catch the bus, I'll have to go over after work and pick him up, but hopefully plan 'A' will work.

  1. Please tell Bernie and Brenda we send our condolences. It's always hard when something like that happens and you are so far away. Hopefully Bernie and Caitlyn get home safely without too much trouble.
