What a great weekend.

Well, it's Monday once again. It's a little chilly, only 4 degrees, and only going up to 8 or 9, but the sun is shining!
What a busy weekend. Friday Feast almost turned into a party. We had Brenda's biscuits and she made delicious chocolate muffins with a cream cheese filling - YUM! We also had Thai Coconut, Ginger Chicken Soup. It's a little different taste, but it's really good and everyone liked it. We preceded that with some pan fried Chinese dumplings. Of course there was wine. Helena was there when I got there, and Jackie and Luke arrived when we were eating. Although they had already eaten they tasted some of the soup, and had some biscuits.

After they left, Brenda and I cleaned up and did the dishes, and you can imagine her shock to find that the bottle of wine was empty, and we were the only two drinking it. Seems Bernie was topping up our glasses without our even noticing. No wonder we found things so funny when we were doing the dishes. Then it was off to look at the information she had received via email on the Saltscapes Expo. We were very disappointed to realize that we can't go (well, at least I can't) because the date is April 30, May 1 and 2. We were sure it was the weekend before. We'll just have to try again next year. But we couldn't figure out how we got the date wrong. On Saturday afternoon I pulled out the November/December issue of Saltscapes and it contains a full page ad, instructing their readers to mark their calendars and save the date for the 2010 Saltscapes Expo - April 23, 24 and 25. I have no idea when the date got changed, but it sure is a good thing we looked at the website. We would have been pretty annoyed to have gone over and it wasn't on. I think I'll give them a call today and find out just what happened. I can't imagine we are the only ones who planned to travel that weekend.

Saturday was a busy day at home - just tidying, cleaning, laundry, and of course an afternoon nap. Bernice Kelly called me in the morning and said "I need something from you". It turns out she was baking a cake and didn't realize she didn't have enough eggs. So she came down and picked up two eggs, and we had a little chat. Not long after she left, Brenda stopped in. She had been to Mount Stewart to put up posters about Dave's party on Saturday night, and dropped in for a tea on her way home. I was also able to offer her some delicious chocolate muffins with cream cheese filling, that she'd given me to take home the night before. Saturday night was quiet and I just watched a movie on TV.

I got up early on Sunday morning and did a bit more cleaning, some of the ickky jobs - like taking everything out of the fridge and scrubbing down the whole inside. But it was nice to get that job done. It was really windy all weekend so working outside wasn't really an option. There was some thought of going kayaking on Sunday but it was just too breezy. Too bad cause it seems that some canoes have beat us out to the river this year. The up side of the gusts is that the missing crazy carpet has returned home. I was driving down the road on Sunday afternoon, and saw something bright red out in the field. It was unmistakable, and it had also not been there on Friday. So I thought I'd better go and get it right then or it would be gone when I get back. So I parked on the side of the road, a brief trek into the field, and it's now back home again.

Brenda called me around 10:30 and we decided to go into town to the Home Show at the Civic Centre. While we were there they had a cheese tasting demo. So we sat down and got to sample six varieties of cheese. We were also directed to a website that would tell us what wines to serve with what cheeses. So it was totally worth the $5.00 admission fee! (Would have been $15 in Ontario)

After leaving the Home Show, we went over to Victoria Park and went for a walk for almost an hour. We walked along the boardwalk and then through neighbourhood streets to get back. It was quite windy on the boardwalk but the sun was shining and we were dressed for it. But once we got away from the water, and sheltered by houses, the layers quickly started to come off. It was quite warm in the sun, and away from the wind.

We had to get back because we were helping at the Rec Centre with a hockey banquet. Another good evening was had by all, but we were glad to leave at 9:30 to head home. It had been a busy weekend. Now it's back to the real world again.
